I am interdisciplinary to a fault, blending media, materials, and memories into visual representations of our shared humanity. Whether it's sub-Saharan antiquity or jump ropes brushing an inner city pavement, I strive to add the pages of the Afro-Atlantic experience to the often-overlooked chapters of human history, transforming identity into a contemporary language for viewers to consider.
Interwoven across fiber art, photography, sculpture, and research, I intentionally tap into the overlooked frequencies of the places and spaces I love, revealing and acknowledging elements that are often hiding in plain sight. This contributes to a vital conversation about vibrant communities that exist on the margins but are deeply understood by those familiar with them. My collective practice serves as a vehicle for communicating my lifelong exploration of the global African experience, which I interpret and curate through my unique African American lens.
I balance emotion, reverence, and mark-making, shaping my point of view and fueling my visual narratives while ensuring a safe space for each piece to exist fully. It is through these vivid expressions of nostalgia and connection that I embed ritual and fellowship into my work as an intentional gathering of subjects, objects, and scholarship.
